How to Cancel Dropbox
Step by step · checked against the official help page in October 2026

Short answer: On dropbox.com, click your avatar, Manage account, Cancel plan, pick a reason and confirm. Your account becomes free Dropbox Basic (2 GB) at the end of the billing cycle.
Cancel on the website
- Log in to dropbox.com.
- Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the bottom-left corner, then Manage account.
- Click Cancel plan at the bottom of the page.
- Select a reason, then click Continue canceling or Confirm change and follow the prompts.
Paying through Apple or Google?
No Cancel plan button? You probably bought Dropbox on your phone. Cancel it in your phone's app store.
iPhone or iPad (Apple):
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
- Tap the subscription, then Cancel Subscription, and confirm.
Android (Google Play):
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Tap the subscription, then Cancel subscription, and follow the steps.
What happens after you cancel
- Your account changes to Dropbox Basic (free, 2 GB) at the end of the billing cycle; you won't be charged again.
- Over 2 GB? You may not be able to sync, upload or share files, and Dropbox may delete files to get your account under the limit.
- You'll get an email titled "Dropbox Plan will not renew". Cancelling is not the same as deleting your account.
Before you cancel: save money
- Download or move files before your plan ends if you use more than 2 GB.
- Just need less space? Change plan on the same page.
